Typically I don’t do a lot of seasonal decor but in the last couple years I have enjoyed putting out a few more fall items. I am not going to share any tutorials or specific projects, just share some pictures of what I have done this year and maybe some from last year.
Usually I try to add a couple subtle touches of fall to my existing decor. I don’t love having to swap out all my existing things for seasonal pieces. In our dining room I added a bit of yellow and a couple pumpkins.
I did make one new piece this year and I don’t know if it will become a permanent decor item or will only come out in certain seasons…?
Large DIY Chalkboard!
I built this giant chalkboard with a poplar wood frame and Rust-o-leum chalkboard paint used on hardboard. Pretty easy project.
I wanted to have this verse displayed somewhere in our home in this season to remind our family that there is a true and greater harvest than the seasonal one around us.
Mantel…
I am still not settled on my mantel decor but this is what I have so far. I tried to pick out all of my earthy/fall tone colored vintage books. Added a few of my favorite antiques and called it done…for now.
I have a couple felt/fabric pumpkins scattered about. I think they were from Target dollar spot a year ago, but I have seen similar ones at various stores this year.
Couldn’t find the same pumpkins I got last year but here are some other good options:
Hobby Lobby woven cream pumpkin
Last Year’s Fall Decor
Last Year I put out some felt/fabric pumpkins, as well as a few knitted pumpkins a friend gifted me. The plaid throw is actually a scarf from Hobby Lobby.
Front porch Simple Fall Decor
This year I picked up some potted mums for the front porch. And I had the hubby bring me home some corn stalks from the farm. The pictures are not great since it was evening and the porch was all wet from the hose, but you get the idea. I took these pictures on my phone so the quality is not great.
And that’s about it for fall decor for me, just a few things scattered around the house among existing decorations.
